Hello everyone. I know it’s been a while since I’ve last posted, and I am deeply sorry for that. I will be posting more later this month, but for now, this will just be a short update as to what’s been happening and what I would like to happen. 2017 was a hectic year for me, and I made a lot of promises I couldn’t keep. I have a habit of spreading myself too thin, and the longer 2017 progressed, the worse everything seemed to get. I was so overwhelmed by the end of the year that I could barely function. I’ve taken a few weeks off of doing anything my overly ambitious self deemed “productive” and am now feeling much better. I’ve started planning for some projects that I’m really excited for, and I’m actually looking forward to the future now.
In regards to this blog, I’ve flopped big time. Even in my first post, I swore I would actually keep at this, but I still let months go by without so much as a sentence on any of my social media. I know there’s not a lot of you out there who even read this, and I’ve kinda let that be my excuse in the past, but I’m trying to change that. This year, I’m setting some goals for myself, and I’ve been helping Ashlyn set her own goals as well. This blog will be changing. I’m not sure how, but I’m not happy with it the way it is. I want to tell more stories, to have more humor on here. I want this blog to feel like me, not just who I am trying to portray myself as. I am also considering starting up my YouTube channel again, which can be found here. I will be trying to post something about once a month, but just know, the channel is not going to be my top priority. Right now, my schooling is. I’m gonna set some goals for 2018, and in a year, I’ll come back and see what I have managed to accomplish.
This goal is to help me work on reading and watching with a critical eye so that I can improve as a writer and begin to learn more about cinematography.
I know this is not a lot, but with how busy my schedule already is, I’m afraid I won’t be able to commit to more.
I’ve already mentioned this goal, but I would like to elaborate why I’m adding this. I’ve been interning at my church for a while now under our technical pastor. He encouraged me to start making videos, and while most of the videos probably won’t be stories, just continuing to improve in that area is important.
This one is less task oriented than my others. Last year, I was determined to develop my own style to the point where it started to stunt my creative progress. This year, I want to continue to improve, especially in my digital art, but without it feeling like a necessity for my own style to stand out by itself. Those are my four goals for this year, and I plan to try my very best to stick to them. Quick update: while Ashlyn and I have tried to coordinate posting in the past by alternating whose turn it is to post, our schedules are just too conflicting. We will both be posting when we can, as long as it doesn’t negatively affect our schooling. Stay Creative, Alexa C.
